The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted a two-week transit pre-arrest bail to a woman who claims that actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan is the father of her daughter, along with her family. Aparna Soni, her husband Rajesh, and their daughter Shinova were given this relief to allow them to approach the local court in Lucknow for further legal actions.

The trio sought the High Court's intervention after Ravi Kishan's wife, Preeti Shukla, filed an FIR against six people at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow, accusing Aparna and Shinova of blackmailing them for Rs 20 crore. The state advocate opposed the plea, arguing that their custody was necessary. However, Justice RN Laddha questioned the state's stance since the offence was not registered in Maharashtra.

Preeti Shukla’s advocate, Aniket Nikam, also objected to the petition, noting that the offence was registered in April and arguing that the trio had ample time to seek pre-arrest bail from the local court in Lucknow. The Sonis had previously approached the Dindoshi sessions court, which rejected their anticipatory bail plea on May 6. Nikam further pointed out that they had not explained why they failed to approach the Lucknow court earlier.

Advocate Parth Sanghrajka, representing the Sonis, argued that Ravi Kishan's substantial influence in the area justified their apprehensions. He highlighted that one of their lawyers had been made an accused in the case. Justice Laddha, however, noted that the prosecution in Maharashtra did not have significant influence over the matter.

Justice Laddha stated that appropriate conditions could be imposed to ensure the accused would not misuse the limited relief and would approach the Lucknow court with anticipatory bail. He clarified that the court's decision did not address the merits of the case. Given the possibility of arrest, the court provided protection for two weeks to allow the Sonis to approach the competent court in Lucknow.

The High Court stipulated that the Sonis must remain in Maharashtra, except for travel to Lucknow to file their application.
