The government has instructed Ola, led by Bhavish Aggarwal, to introduce a system that allows customers to choose their preferred refund method and to ensure that receipts are provided for every auto ride.

This directive came from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, following numerous complaints about unfair practices, such as overcharging and improper refund processes.
Data from the National Consumer Helpline shows 2,061 complaints against Ola from January to October 2024.
The CCPA emphasized that Ola must provide a clear option for refunds, either via bank transfer or coupons, as well as make invoices available for all auto rides, correcting current practices that violate consumer rights.
