A female judge in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district has penned a letter to Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, expressing her desire to end her life due to enduring "abuse" and "harassment" throughout her career. The judge, in extreme distress, recounts instances of injustice she faced and questions her ability to deliver justice while in pain.

"I entered the Judicial Service with enthusiasm, aspiring to dispense justice. Little did I know I'd be seeking justice myself at every turn. In my brief tenure, I've faced public abuse and, regrettably, endured sexual harassment, feeling like an unwanted insect. My hope to deliver justice now seems naive," she lamented.

Addressing working women, she sadly remarked, "Learn to live with sexual harassment; it's a harsh reality." Disillusioned with the Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment Act (2013), she asserted that complaints are ignored, leading to torture and threats. The judge, unable to fight the system, revealed her despair and discouragement.

In a separate incident, the judge detailed a night meeting request from a district judge. Despite reporting the incident in 2022, no action was taken. Only after six months and a barrage of emails did an inquiry commence, which she criticized as a sham. Her plea for the district judge's transfer was dismissed by the Supreme Court in a mere eight seconds, raising concerns about the influence on the inquiry.

Expressing her anguish over dismissals and humiliations, the judge declared a lack of purpose in her life. She pleaded with the Chief Justice to permit her to end her life in a dignified manner, stating, "Let my life be: DISMISSED."
