During the proceedings, the Supreme Court declined the plea from senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Arvind Kejriwal, for interim bail extending until the announcement of results on June 4.

Instead, the court granted interim bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal until June 1, instructing him to surrender on June 2, 2024.

This decision came after the court rejected Singhvi's request for a longer bail period. Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor excise policy scam, is required to surrender to the prison authorities.

What is It?

interim bail is a temporary bail for a shorter time period during which the court can call the documents to make a final decision on the regular or anticipatory bail application

Prior to the hearing for the approval of regular or anticipatory bail, temporary relief is often provided to the accused, termed as 'interim bail'.
